Strengths Apparent at this Level of Play

Player can sustain a rally of slow pace; basic shots.

Fairly consistent, moderate pace with some directional control.

Improved consistency with directional control, moderate shots; improved court coverage.

Game plan evident; dependable hits with depth directional control; good court coverage; has teamwork in doubles.

Varied game plan; aggressive hitting with more pace; beginning to handle pace.

Capable of all shots; has out-standing shot or attribute; plays percentage tennis.

Weakness Apparent at this Level of Play

Inconsistency; backhand is weak; weak court coverage, poor anticipation.

Lacks depth control; doubles is commonly one-up one-back.

Lacks consistency when trying for power off moderate shots.

May play low percentage tennis; doesn't vary tactics; often impatient.

Tends to overhit when trying for depth/pace, overhits under pressure; not capable of all shots.

Pressure play; inability to return all shots in an offensive manner.
